ironmanI really like the Iron man super hero. He is like the ultimate creation by human technology. Even the newest military stealth fighters are no match for the hypersonic & virtually invincible flying suit of armor. Tony Stark has got all sorts of high tech weaponry in his Iron man suit like plasma rays & etc. Bound to survive by an advanced mechanical heart, Tony Stark becomes the Iron man to battle any form of terrorism which had caused him to lose his natural heart in the first place.

I thought I would shed some light on the origin of the Iron Man character played by Robert Downey Junior in the movie Iron man . Anthony "Tony" Stark was born on Long Island, New York which obviously made him a citizen of the United States. He is a genius inventor & the son of industrialist, Howard Stark. Tony Stark enrolled in college electrical engineering program at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) at age 15. With his father & mother being deceased, his only known relative is Morgan, his cousin.

Tony Stark then inherited his father's business, Stark Industries at age 21 & made it into a multi million-dollar company after a few years whose chief contracts were weaponry & munitions for the U.S. government. Iron man s first appearance was in the comic Tales of Suspense #39. The movie by Paramount Pictures & Marvel Enterntainment released 2008 next year is different than the original comic book regarding the location where the first Iron man was built (Vietnam) in order to reflect contemporary world issues. I reckon it is a good idea because viewers are able to relate to the present reality & make the Iron man movie more realistic.

Iron man does a sonic boom! Robert Downey Junior suits up to be the first Iron man in the movies. Samuel L. Jackson as an African American version of Nick Fury may not be such a bad idea after all. I mean he is the Samuel L. Jackson who does federal characters extremely well. I mean Iron man is about Robert Downey Junior. He is good at comedies & drama but as an action hero, we will have to wait & see. Also in the foray are the sweet Gwyneth Paltrow & Jim Rhodes which makes the Iron man movie an anticipated star studded blockbuster film next year.

The Iron man armor worn by Robert Downey Junior looks more realistic than the comic book version. In the Iron man movie, the armor looks like a full body casing with advanced hinges at the joints, rivets & the works. The armor of Iron man in the comics looks as though it is a shiny layer of metallic cloth donned over human muscle. A state of the art, magnetic molecular metal binding technology that makes the armor looks like cloth seems to far fetched idea at present. It is good that the costume designers had a more realistic looking suit of armor specially made for the Iron man movie.

Jackie Chan and Jet Li join forces to release a masterpiece with a few flaws, but nothing to discourage anyone from seeing this movie. These two friends that have been waiting to make a movie together have dual starring roles in this epic adventure of action and mythical chemistries. Jackie Chan plays an elderly Bostonian shopkeeper and a "drunken master" for who wine is an elixir of strength. But he demonstrates more than just the drunken fist. Li plays a monk well-versed in the martial arts and, even more magnificently, appears as the wiry, mischievous Monkey King, a mythical Chinese figure with the ability to transform himself into 72 different animals or objects. The Monkey King is part of the immortals in this movie. He is invincible after fighter all takers and never losing. It is only after another immortal tricks him that he is cast stone but before being cast into stone he casts his famous fighting pole away as the key to release himself from his stone prison. And their starts the story.

I was a little disappointed with all the wire work in the beginning of this story. I remember thinking not another fake martial arts story with people being able to walk walls and jump onto 10 story building with one leap, but after the first scene there wasn't much more of this. Most of the fight scenes looked very authentic and took a lot of skill to perform. Jackie and Jet Li skills are flawless with skills that are extraordinary to say the least. Even if the fight scenes were scripted it would still take a lot of skill to make every scene look like the individual has been doing the art for all their lives.

As for blood and gore, this movie did not have a lot of this. Not to say there wasn't any but it was minimum and well placed. Personally I loved this movie. Not because I am a martial arts fan, but mainly because it had a very good story line that made some sense. I would truly recommend this movie for rental or watching it while it is in the movie theaters. It is extraordinary on the big screen.

Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who!I don't know if it was the movie or just that I was tired but I ended up falling asleep for a portion of this movie.  I know what it was, it was the movie.  Not to say that this movie is bad.  No, this movie is perfect for the  children between 3 to 12 years old.  I kind of compare this movie to Barney, perfect for kids, mind numbing for adults.

Horton played by Jim Carrey is the elephant who has a captive audience of all the children in the forest and a huge influence on all of them finds a spec that he happens to find has a whole culture of WHO living on it.  And Hortan with his big ears can hear them.  But that is the problem, he is the only one who can hear them.  All of the adults think that he is making all of this up about the spec and such is influencing the children to believe in make believe and they can't have that.  So, one adult in particular takes it upon herself to try and get rid of the speek.  But anything that she does to get rid of the spec will destroy the WHO and Hortan has guaranteed to protect the WHO at all cost.

Steve Carell plays the Mayor of the town of the WHO who makes the initial contact with Horton and convinces him to take care of them and to get them to a safe spot so that nothing will happen to his beloved town and city.  His problem is that no one believe him either.  Actually, that don't have much confidence in him at all.  But he eventually does win over the town who also implore Horton to protect them also.

This movie is rated G and is for all in the family.  Small children will love and adore this movie.  All the children that were in my showing were laughing continuously throughout the entire film.

10000 BCA testament to the endurance of the human spirit.  I must admit, when I first heard of this movie I thought it would just be another movie with a lot of animal mantronics running around trying to eat all the human, another Jurassic Park.  I was pleasantly surprised that throughout the whole entire movie I only say 3 prehistoric animals.  And if those encounters were brief.  Instead of the director concentrating on the animals of this time they decided to concentrate on the story line and that is exactly what I wanted out of the movie.

This movie starts out with a prophecy from the old lady elder stating that their food supply would eventually run out and would not migrate close to their tribe.  But, she stated not to worry, as a new bread of warrior will emerge from the tribe that will change the way that the whole tribe gathers and grows food.  Enters Evolet played by Camilla Belle.  She is a orphaned that is brought to the tribe after her family is killed.  She is prophesied to be the savor of their way of life and will usher in a new way of living for the tribe.  She is the key and who however wins and marries her will be the savor of the tribe.  Evolet is taken from the tribe which starts the change in the tribe.

I absolutely loved this movie.  The story line flowed with no down time what so ever.  Ever scene helped to make the story even more interesting as the movie moved along.  As for children looking at this movie, it is not recommended.  Their is a lot of fighting and killing either with the animals or the humans.  The movie is rated PG13, I would say that 14 or 15 year old would not have much of a problem with the material in this movie.  But below that, I would not recommend.

Overall this is a great movie that all adults should enjoy.

Enchanted

What can I say about this one.  One thing that I can say is that Disney definitely thinks outside of the box.  To take a long lasting love story, re-invent it and drop it right smack in the middle of New York.  But not only that; instead of keeping with the same old musical format were everyone is nice and willing to give everything in the drop of a moment, they change that.  Some people are actually mean.  Not just the evil step mother and her infatuated counterpart, but the extras, the fillers.

When I look at movies and review them I try to look at the movie and it entertainment value.  Does this movie keep my attention?  Does it make me laugh?  Do I get deep feeling of love or hate during the movie.  Well, I have to say that I got every emotion that I previously described out of this movie.  I got hate when Nathaniel, the evil princes’ minion, kept trying to dispose of Giselle, the prince true love.  I felt happiness when the prince came to rescue Giselle.  I felt nervousness when I thought the prince would never find Giselle.  But the strongest feeling of all came when Queen Narissa was introduced as the evil step mother who did not want to give up her throne.Enchanted had a lot of ups and downs.  But the movie kept on movie me along.  I did not find any parts that I just lost interest in.  This is also a movie that the whole family will enjoy.  Not just the children but all the adults should enjoy this one.  This is definitely a rent or buy.  For me I chose to buy it, especially since it is a Disney movie.  They tend to pull these off the rack after a while and I did not want to miss having this one in my collection.

Revolution Films presents a movie directed by Julie Taymor. Written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais. Based on the story by Julie Taymor, Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais.

Running time: 131 minutes.

** Spoilers ahead **

How about a 131-minute long Beatles video?

This movie is nothing short of a masterpiece. It has controlled, striking and deep performances, beautiful photography by the Oscar nominated Bruno Delbonnel, a charming story and to top all that, 34 breathtaking songs composed by the Beatles themselves.

Set in the 60s, the story starts in Liverpool, with a young ship mechanic named Jude (Jum Sturgess, as a reference to the song 'Hey Jude' that is used later in the film). From the scenes in the beginning of the film, we get the impression that Jude is leaving Liverpool for better things to come, and so he does. He travels to the US in search of his father, who never knew he existed. After a short, very matter-of-fact confrontation with him at Princeton University where he works as a janitor, Jude moves along with his life, making friends with some students on-campus. Among them, is Max (Joe Anderson, and a definite character reference to the song 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer'), a money wise fortunate, yet defiant young man, who sees no sense in studying further.

Max takes Jude home to celebrate thanksgiving, where he meets the family, who show great concern in Max's rebellious nature, and are hell-bent on an explanation. But in the midst of chaos, Jude finds beauty in the form of Lucy (Evan Rachel Woods in her second stunning performance this year after King of California, and as a reference to the song 'Lucy in the sky with diamonds'). Lucy's boyfriend is drafted to Vietnam at this point and we already know what's going to happen next.

Max then drops out of Princeton and moves to New York with Jude. Lucy follows suit soon, and together they meet their hot landlord Sadie (Dana Fuchs, and a reference to the song 'Sexy Sadie') and her boyfriend JoJo (Martin Luther) who incidentally turn out to be struggling musicians. It has been suggested that Sadie and JoJo are references to Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, two infamous musicians of that era.

There is a rude awakening from the comfort of home as Max is suddenly tested for being drafted to Vietnam in a sequence that is award-worthy and drenched in symbolism. Soldiers with protruding jaw lines and robotic gestures march through a miniature of Vietnam holding a giant Statue of Liberty over their backs. We are also introduced to Prudence, a young bisexual girl who hitchhikes from Ohio to New York. And boy, did she have an entrance. 'She came in through the bathroom window'. Although, later in the movie, she does lock herself in her room, and cause everyone else to sing 'Hey Prudence', the song that you must've already associated her name with.

Pretty soon, Lucy and Jude become somewhat of an item. Bono makes a special appearance in the film as Dr. Robert, singing 'I am the walrus', as he introduces our central characters to psychedelic drugs and takes them on a journey in his bus, throwing the film into a vortex of wildly colourful and suggestive imagery. Comedian Eddie Izzard makes a commanding appearance as a circus ringmaster singing 'For the benefit of Mr. Kite' as he entertains them with his uncanny circus.

But this drug-spiked state of bliss is short-lived. Soon, Max is drafted to Vietnam. Lucy takes it upon herself to make a change because she didn't want to lose one more person to the war. She joins a radical anti-war movement, leaving Jude mostly alone at home, sketching away in solitude. This affects him mentally and results in a fracture in his relationship with Lucy, and as a result, we see the fracture spread across the spine of the entire storyline. Sadie and JoJo suddenly are having problems and Max is being terrorised by the war he's fighting. Jude then storms into Lucy's office one day and argues and fights with her colleagues, forcing them to throw him out. Lucy's heart breaks and following this, she leaves Jude.

Jude later finds her at an anti-war protest that turns violent, and in his attempt at saving Lucy, he gets sent to prison, where he is recognised as an illegal resident and sent back to Liverpool. This, in some respects, has been said to bear resemblance to John Lenon's deportation by the US Government for being 'Unamerican', an act of control against the peace protests he was known for.

Later, Lucy walks into her political group's office and finds them making home-made explosives. She is disturbed by this and walks away, leaving them for good. In another award-worthy scene, Jude and Max, who has now returned from war communicate through what must have been a letter, a scene that was filmed with my personal favourite song, 'Hey Jude'.

This film is wonderful because more than anything, it's a study of the Beatles. The music - the influences, the political, psychedelic and personal catalysts that made them what they were. Everything in this film is a reference to the Beatles in some way or the other. So, if you're a Beatles fan, you'll really love this movie. For others, it might take a little getting used to, because there's hardly a total of 10 minutes in the movie where there isn't a song playing. So, you get the picture.

But if there's one thing that this film has done to me, it sure has turned me into a Beatles fan. Look out for the soundtrack of this film. I hear there's a 31-track deluxe edition available.

Director: Tony Gilroy

Cast: George Clooney, Tom Wilkinson, Tilda Swinton, Sydney Pollack After having meticulously constructed the Bourne Trilogy, Tony Gilroy in his directorial Debut has reduced his formula into a single film, Michael Clayton. He (George Clooney) calls himself a 'janitor'; he is a lawyer at a Manhattan firm where he cleans up mess made by haphazard clients. Michael wants to be a normal good person as he keeps questioning himself what kind of person he has become. He is the firms 'fixer' who is supposed to clean up the dirty work that happens in the firm but hardly has time to fix his own life. One day while driving back from a job, Michael stops on a lonely road, when suddenly his car just blows up. Four days earlier, the conclusion of a six year class-action suit against an agrochemical client, the firm's top litigator Arthur (Tom Wilkinson) suffers from a depressive meltdown as he discovers that his client is guilty as hell and he wants to make amends. Michael rushes to take care of Arthur but he slips from his custody and returns to Manhattan. Michael, whose own life is like a landslide, owes 75,000$ to some bad guys and makes a devil's bargain with the firm to make sure that Arthur is back to normal. The Agrochemical Company's Chief Karen (Tilda Swinton) begins to panic and sends few people to take care of Arthur. Michael gets himself almost killed while trying to learn the truth behind his friend's demise. This film is almost on the same lines as Syriana, a film that tries to attack the respected authorities while still working within the format of mainstream cinema. Its like a 2 hr lawyer talk but the screenplay is so good that you will be engrossed into the movie and by the time the credits roll, you would be already caught up in this intelligent suspense thriller with some high intensity scenes and well developed characters. The Director seems to be in no hurry to tell his story and the sequence of events seems very natural and absorbing. Cinematography by Oscar-nominated Robert Elswit is good. Right from the start, there are contrasting shots. A long panning shot through expensive, empty offices is coupled with a voice over of pain and agony. Suddenly the camera stops into a busy room. An annoying reporter over the phone. And the overheard phrase, "The time is now," brings everything together in the present. George Clooney, Tom Wilkinson, Tilda Swinton and Sydney Pollack all gave phenomenal performances which make it difficult to even pick out who acted the best. You need to pay a lot of attention while watching this movie as it has lots of details else you wont end up understanding anything and will eventually think you got bored.

Tilda Swinton in a scene from the movie was rehearsing herself a question, "How do you achieve work-life balance"? I think the question does apply to us all.

After four Harry Potter movies, we finally get a chance to see Daniel Radcliffe kissing. As the movie cast grow into their teenage years, so does the "heat" in the scenes. The newest Harry Potter movie, Order of the Phoenix, showcases many more computer generated imagery (CGI) wonders.

In fact, when you watch the Order of the Phoenix trailer, you can see that almost every scene in the trailer has CGI in it. Thank goodness that the kissing scene was not CGI. Then again, a CGI kissing scene would be interesting too. Fans of the Harry Potter movies know that the newest sequel, Order of the Phoenix is not one to be missed. The movie was scheduled for release in cinemas on Wednesday 11th July 2007.

Being released almost a week later in the cinemas after the CGI Transformers movie, the newest sequel of the Harry Potter movies was set to challenge the $152 million and counting earnings of the CGI Transformers movie.

Also, CGI works of the new Harry Potter movie; Order of the Phoenix may not stand up to the likes of the Transformers movie but it should still be an entertaining feat to behold. It should be interesting to see how the fifth Harry potter movie, Order of the Phoenix, really appeals to the loyal fans.

Having a loyal cast for four movie sequels is an amazing feat. Harry Potter is one of the movies that have successfully presented the original cast since the first movie, The Philosopher's Stone. I think it is wonderful since the viewers can relate to the actor's style of acting which, I think makes movie sequels more successful.

Will we ever have enough of Harry Potter adventures? I doubt it, even though it is only my opinion but I am actually excited to see view Harry Potter well in to adulthood & watch how the character grows in the movies.

One of the lasting Harry Potter characters is Professor Albus Dumbledore. Micheal Gambon had played the old & wise character since the first movie, The Philosopher's Stone. His prowess as playing an old wizard is also equivalent to Ian Mckellan acting on Lord of the rings.

One may become confused between the two as both characters in both separate lines of movies have the similar wise & old wizard character. Nonetheless, the main characters of both movies are not the wizard character which makes it an excusable coincidence, in my opinion.

Pirates Of The Caribbean - The Curse of the Black PearlDead men tell no tales...until now, that is. For almost forty years the pirates have stuck to their script, but after appearing in E-Ticket attractions at four Disney Theme Parks around the world and starring in a blockbuster hit film, the wildest crew that ever sacked the Spanish Main is ready for their own unique brand of Hollywood tell all.

Few shows have had the “leg” that Pirates does, sea or otherwise. Only a small number of films and theatrical shows are as beloved and as relevant forty years after their initial release. A pirate of the Caribbean is the quintessential Disney themed show. It is a triumph for both the group and the process of Walt Disney Imagineering, seamlessly melding story telling and technology to immerse the audience in an elaborate virtual reality decades before either the concept or the term was in vogue. It is a lavish showcase for the art of Audio-Animatronics, bringing the starts of the show to three dimensional life in that reality as never before. It’s “narrated” by one of the most memorable and hum worthy songs in Disney history.

One of the hallmarks of Disney storytelling has always been a starting attention to detail, and Pirates of the Caribbean is the premier example of that Imagineering design principle. The experience is sumptuous and simply too vast and complex to take in one voyage. The audience sees, hears, smells or feels something new every time they ride on the attraction and that keeps them coming back again and again.

Walt Disney Imagineering, both the practice and the practitioners, was born of the film industry, and Pirates of the Caribbean itself was inspired in part by such legendary Hollywood epics as Captain Blood and Disney’s own Treasure Island. So it should come as no surprise that this timeless theme park adventure would prove just as worthy of cinematic adaptation as any classic novel, Broadway musical, TV show, or even comic book.

Superman II"Superman II", the sequel to "Superman", stars many of the same actors as the original film in their original roles. The film is as entertaining and adventurous as the original. The acting is quite good, particularly that of the three arch-villains from Krypton (Terence Stamp as General Zod, Sarah Douglas as Ursa, and Jack O'Halleran as Non).

"Superman II" begins shortly after the original film left off. Perry White, chief editor of the Daily Planet, sends Lois Lane to Paris to investigate a terrorist plot to set of a hydrogen bomb from the Eiffel Tower. When Superman (disguised as Clark Kent) learns of this, he quickly removes his disguise and flies off to save her and send the bomb off into space. The bomb explodes a safe distance from Earth, but the explosion causes the Phantom Zone, in which the three arch-villains General Zod, Ursa, and Non have been captured and flying through space, to break, releasing them near the moon.

The three villains go to the moon, where they encounter a group of astronauts on a lunar mission. They quickly kill the astronauts and destroy the mission, learning of their new superpowers in the process. They then head to Earth to wreak more havoc.

Lois and Clark are sent to Niagra Falls posed as newlyweds to investigate a hotel scam. Superman saves a boy who accidentally falls off a rail above the falls. Lois suspects that Clark Kent is Superman, since as usual, he disappears as soon as Superman appears. In order to try to prove that he's Superman, she throws herself into the river, hoping Clark will remove his disguise and save her. Instead, he uses his heat vision to burn off a large branch from a tree, telling her to grab onto it. He then jumps in and rescues her without the need to use his powers.

Back in the hotel room, Clark stumbles and his hand accidentally ends up in the fire in the fireplace. However, when he removes his hand with no evidence of it having burned, Lois learns that he really is Superman. She professes her love for him and he falls in love with her as well. Superman flies off with her to his fortress on the North Pole, where they enjoy a nice, romantic dinner. Superman then receives a message from his long-deceased mother, telling him that in order to be with Lois, he must give up his powers, which he agrees to do.

Meanwhile, the arch-villains cause more trouble. After destroying a small town in Idaho, they fly off to Washington DC, break through the roof, and demand that the president step down and let General Zod take over the world. Reluctantly the president agrees, but tells him that Superman will not let him remain in power.

General Zod and his associates want to find Superman so they can challenge him. Lex Luthor shows up, having escaped from prison and learned of the villains' whereabouts. In exchange for Australia, he tells them to kidnap Lois Lane in order to lure Superman.

On their way back home from the North Pole, Lois and Clark wander into a diner. A big brute makes a pass at Lois. Clark tries to stop him but turns out to be no match for him. Lois manages to get away from him, however. Afterward, they watch TV and learn of the arch-villains' world takeover. Clark then insists on going back to the North Pole to try to get his powers back.

Shortly after Lois returns to the Daily Planet, the villains come along with Lex and kidnap her. Having regained his powers, Superman arrives to save her. The villains go after him, resulting in a big superbattle throughout Metropolis. In the end, however, Superman loses the battle and flies off to his fortress.

Only Lex knows of the location of the fortress, so he tells the villains how to get there. They take him and Lois there. Superman then battles it out with them again, but they grab Lois and threaten to kill her unless he backs off. Superman then secretly teams up with Lex and tells him to try to get the villains into a chamber, which will make them lose their powers. Lex betrays Superman, however, and tells the villains to make Superman go in their instead, which he does. Thinking he's lost his powers, General Zod then makes Superman kneel before him, grabbing his hand. However, in reality, Superman had retained his powers in the chamber and the villains had lost theirs. Thus, Superman crushes the general's hand and throws him off a tall cliff. Non tries to fly to stop Superman, but falls himself. Finally, Lois delivers a good punch to Ursa, which makes her fall to her death as well. Since Lex had betrayed Superman, which is in fact what he'd been counting on, Superman leaves him stranded in the fortress and flies back to Metropolis with Lois.

Back home, in order to keep his powers, Superman must end his romantic relationship with Lois, which he does with a kiss, which makes her forget about it and that Clark is Superman. Disguised as Clark, he goes back to the diner and teaches the thug who'd beaten him up earlier a lesson. Finally, Superman flies back to the White House, puts the roof back on, and apologizes to the president for having let him down.
