A testament to the endurance of the human spirit. I must admit, when I first heard of this movie I thought it would just be another movie with a lot of animal mantronics running around trying to eat all the human, another Jurassic Park. I was pleasantly surprised that throughout the whole entire movie I only say 3 prehistoric animals. And if those encounters were brief. Instead of the director concentrating on the animals of this time they decided to concentrate on the story line and that is exactly what I wanted out of the movie.
This movie starts out with a prophecy from the old lady elder stating that their food supply would eventually run out and would not migrate close to their tribe. But, she stated not to worry, as a new bread of warrior will emerge from the tribe that will change the way that the whole tribe gathers and grows food. Enters Evolet played by Camilla Belle. She is a orphaned that is brought to the tribe after her family is killed. She is prophesied to be the savor of their way of life and will usher in a new way of living for the tribe. She is the key and who however wins and marries her will be the savor of the tribe. Evolet is taken from the tribe which starts the change in the tribe.
I absolutely loved this movie. The story line flowed with no down time what so ever. Ever scene helped to make the story even more interesting as the movie moved along. As for children looking at this movie, it is not recommended. Their is a lot of fighting and killing either with the animals or the humans. The movie is rated PG13, I would say that 14 or 15 year old would not have much of a problem with the material in this movie. But below that, I would not recommend.
Overall this is a great movie that all adults should enjoy.
